OK so it seems that Yahoo was lying about not changing anything all along...

Quote:
...the option to upgrade the MySql version on the server as well as a new PHP version.

They've been rolling out an upgrade and never said a damn thing.  I upgraded both sites ....

So, the faster performance seems to be holding with the new versions, hopefully the reliability will improve... and the email notifications will start working soon. Wink

I think the updated Mysql and Php installations straightened out things that were causing performance issues here all along since day one. The site always was a laggart. We haven't changed a damn thing here except restore a couple of tables that got fouled up sometime around the time of the Yahoo upgrade. So, the issue was Yahoo's all along, just as I always thought. Just like now having the email notifications fubar is their issue too, but getting somebody there to even admit it, much less do a GD thing about it, is fookin near impossible.

If I was a manager there, heads would roll... This is totally lame, but they're big... and free... or at least cheap... for us. Confused

I can't believe I just now noticed this thread. This explains the whole notification biz and yes the site is much faster! And now I know.

Maybe so, the site is mostly working the best it ever has, except for the email notifications, at least from here.

I am impressed at how well this site is performing lately and honestly appreciate the fix that was finally applied after all the years of shit we had to deal with.

Where the heck would you go if you could travel at 4 million miles per hour ?

I guess you'd need some pretty good brakes . Smile
