New to the site. Still figuring out navigating this sob. Recently picked up an 83 cb1000c. And though I've been told by some not to waste my time, I'm planning on taking this machine through a cafe style rebuild. The bike runs like a champ and is remarkably complete for 31 years old. I'm excited to work on it and learn more as I go.

I'm running the site on my phone and not exactly sure how to post a photo from my phone. I'll load one up when I get back to a computer. [/img]

Welcome

Consider keeping the bike stock for bit and see how you like it. It's a one year model and tend to be somewhat rare. Shafties look weird cafe'd anyway. Smile

Welcome

Please be sure to visit the New Members Thread and fill in your signature. Lots of common questions you might have will be answered there as well as how to get the most from this site. A link to it is located in my signature. Smile

I am with Whozza. You would be better off with a 750 that has a chain drive.

Cheers

Appreciate the welcome.

Yes I know the picture I just threw up is too big...calm down. I've got it figured out now.

I removed the front fairing and the passenger back rest. I'm planning on riding it for a while this spring and summer before I get serious about the project side of it.

I've also seen a few other cb1000c's that have been cafe'd. I'm still doing research on the bike and how to tackle the goals I have in mind.

Are there no visionaries left in the world?

There have been plenty of visionaries. The CB1000C just doesn't suit a cafe bike, IMHO. It is the wrong bike for it but it is your bike.

Ha! Thanks! Hope I won't be totally shunned if I go for it and have questions down the road. I appreciate the resources here, (only place I've been able to find a service manual for the bike).

You are fine, no worries. We try to keep it stock here but we have our mod. section and lots of guys do some nice things. Regardless of what you do to your bike this is the best place to be for knowledge.

visionaries over the years were usually beheaded, impaled, crucified ,or burnt as heretics

we just ran out of sharpened stakes and my matches are wet, so we wont beheading your way

any parts you remove, keep them, the 83 cb1000c is a one year bike and in a few years will be worth a few dollars in unmolested condition

hello Wink
