New fella from TN

Hi guys/girls. I've been lurking on this board for a little over a week now and figured I'd introduce myself. Lots of info here, I'm impressed. Hope I can be of help someday.

Just got my very first motorcycle - 1981 CB750C Custom. Been breezing the idea of getting one by my wife for the last two years now and the other day she called me saying someone was selling an old bike for cheap and that I should go look at it. Well here I am.

Not too bad of shape I'd say, still waiting on my tank to ship in before I can take it around the block and see what falls off.

I'll see if I can snap a few pics of the bike sometime today. The wife is prego so there's no way I'm gonna be able to get the camera near her for the next few months. Laughing

Thank you and here's what I'm working with. Had to replace the front master cylinder, starter solenoid, and some homemade wiring and fuses the PO cobbled up as well as the aformentioned fuel tank.

To be honest I was was just looking to get this thing running nice and get my nicks and bumps out of the way before graduating to anopther bike, but after seeing some of the work you guys have done to your rides I'm reconsidering.

Welcome to DOHC CUstoms.
Using that 750c as a starter bike is a great idea.
Trying to bring her back to her full Honda glory will be a very expensive proposition.
Making her presentable should not take more than a thousand bucks.

I wish I had the progress pictures from my 1st 79 CB750K that I brought back to life from a rolling chassis and six milk crates. I sold that bike for $2000.00

That's about the same attitude I had when I rescued my bike on it's way to the junk yard . I took it home in many pieces and the motor was froze solid . Lots of rust . Bent and beat up this and that .

She definitely isn't the prettiest bike on the block , but she's very dependable and puts a grin on my face every time I ride her .

Sure , I did all the work myself , that's the secret .
Don't tell anybody , but this site , in an earlier life , was exactly what I needed to work out a few of the unknowns . Wink

Anyway , what you see below is the product of a pile of junk ; my labors and easily , less than $500 . Very Happy

Yeah, see this is what I'm talking about, nice bike! These things clean up a lot better than I had envisioned when I saw mine leaning up against a tree two weeks ago.
