Hi everyone,
Thought i might take a second to introduce myself. My name is Mike and I'm from the Cleveland area. I am new to the motorcycle scene, i purchased my first bike, an 81 CB750c this April (not running of course). After spending a fair amount of time and money, i had it up and running...and before you know it, i traded it for a not-running CB 1000 C. And let me tell ya, this thing is a real catch. When i went to make the trade, the "gentleman" i traded it to wanted to show me that it would run if you sprayed enough ether into the airbox. Shortly there after, the bike was on fire. Now i'm not really sure who is the bigger clown, the guy who set it on fire, or the guy who decided it would be a good trade for a running 750c, but i ended up with an 83 CB 1000C. In the last couple weeks, i've managed to get it up and running, and i won't bother anyone with repeat questions until I've gotten around to searching the forum to see if any of my problems have been previously addressed here. So the purpose of this posting is to say hi, introduce myself, and just to say that i'm happy to find a group of individuals who enjoys honda custom motorcycles and petcock jokes as much as i do. |

Welcome to DOHC Customs.
"Petcock" is pretty funny if you think about it. |

Thanks all... looking forward to shootin' the breeze... Little frustrated this morning, wanted to take a little ride, but another ebay petcock has come and gone. You see, i have 2 tanks for my bike, the original (i think its original, its the one that came with it) leaked terribly. So i picked up a decently re-painted one off of ebay which was miss-marked as a "Tank from an 82 CB1000C". I jumped on it, and it turns out it was a good deal, clean.. nicely painted... etc. No petcock.
The nut on my old petcock is too big (WOW!!) to fit on my new tank.. which appears to be a full size smaller. So i buy a used petcock from an '81 900 (or so it was marked) which arrived yesterday.. and it turned out to be too small.
I think i saw a few posts about this when i was looking through the tech section. So ill slide over there and see if i can find a petcock thats just the right size. Although, maybe its just time that i took the pretty tank up to the honda dealer and said "look, i need a petcock that fits this hole"
. Then maybe i could ride it before it snows!!
