Hi,
An '83 CB1000 popped up on Phoenix craig's List several weeks ago. I have owned three V45 Magnas and I now have an '86 Shadow 1100 and a Harley but I've always wanted one of these. My job wasn't secure at the time so I just heaved a sigh and continued to browse. Sad A few days later, with my job situation now resolved, I mentioned the bike to my sweet wife who loves riding with me. She urged me to inquire about it so we sent off an email from her iphone. Smile When no response was forthcoming I assumed the bike was gone. Crying or Very sad

A couple weeks later my wife spoted an email from the bike owner in her junk email folder. He had just discovered our email in his junk folder. Laughing
I called him and bought the bike the next day. Very Happy

Here's the good: 8)
12,700 original miles
real nice paint
180lbs straight across, valves in spec
runs like a top rockout2

Here's the not-so good:
oil filter bolt frozen - not a match for my chisel
front turn signal installed in the rear - So what, it works?
Carbs would over flow - time and Sea Foam fixed that
Tach screws missing or broken - installed new ones
wrong bolts holding brake pad retainer clip.

I replaced the rear brake pads and will rebuild the front calipers soon.
Clymer says don't try this at home. What is there to fear head scratch

I'm looking forward to many more miles with my custom.

Welcome

Good score!

What does the manual say not to do at home? I suggest you start a new thread in the Technical Help section with the specific issue. And...check out the FSM in the Technical Documents section.

Welcome Larry! Fellow Zonie here, I'm in Gilbert.

There seems to be an influx of us zonies inhabiting this forum. I'd say almost enough to plan a meet and ride....?

Oh yeah, nice score. I've seen that bike on CL.

Hi, welcome home. The Clymer's is only good for putting under your side stand when checking the oil level. I have one for my Intruder and it tells more lies than a stopped watch.
BTW sweet ride.
