I was looking through the net for info on starters for my '82 cb750c and guess what I found.

I think this is a great site and had to become part of it. I rode a summer or two a decade or so ago and the itch to ride kicked in last summer. I got something I could afford at the time and am quite happy when its running. Its in pretty good shape, but defiantly needs some TLC.

My immediate problem/'s lol I know... I went to store my bike on the last nice day before the snow hit. Once I got to the garage the starter would just spin, no meshing of gears just a motor free spinning. I had an accident at work not long after that left me unable to prep it for storage. I've gotten better and was wondering if there were reasonably priced starters that would work on my bike? The OEM starter is a little out of my price range and i'm more computer geek than grease monkey. But I can put in a new starter. Or smack it with a big hammer.

Any comments or pointers in the right direction would be a great help.

Thanks

You might want to change your avatar. Grego on this site already has it.

Welcome.

You should check your starter clutch. It's what allows the starter to turn over the motor, and is located behind the lower left motor side cover, behind the ignition pulsars.

Go the technical documents section here and download the Honda Shop Manual for your bike if you need one.

Thanks all, this has to be the friendliest forum i've seen in a while.

I'm still waiting on the weather to let me outside for any period of time. I need to tinker. And the not knowing just what is wrong is killing me.

I'll give an update as soon as I can.

I'm from Ravenna.

Well, I've read enough threads thru here, and honestly debated on joining due to some less than enthusiastic comments from people that have high post counts.

But I know what it's like to answer the same question 40 times.
I think I made the right call.

Shit I'm highjacking....

Ikky. Good luck on fixin your problem. I'm sure we'll be in touch.
