8) I just wanted to say HI to everyone. This is the best site I have found by far. An 83 CB1000C just entered my stable and it is " The New Girl". Found her in excellent shape and had to bring Her home. I can not wait to ride her all day and night, but first I have to do some things. New tires and brakes. She is fouling plugs so I think the ING Mod, new gas and Carb cleaning, ect...
I dont think I have been this exceited about a bike since my Dad brought home a Bennelli 50 when I was 10 years old. 36 years ago. I have been doing alot of reading on this most excellent site and starting to learn alot. Thanks for all the great post. Hope to be cruising with some of you soon,
Mike |

Hello---------
I uploaded some Pics to Photo Bucket, My computer is very slow, so I have to try to download some to here. I will get the hang of it sooner or later. I have been taking alot of pics as I go through the Bike, and want to put up some sort of report here soon.
I should try tonight..........

When you upload to photobucket there's a setting right at the bottom of the upload box that allows you to resize your pics. 640x480 is the best size for large pics. If you did not do this, you will have to resize each pic manually by selecting the Edit link above the thumbnail and then the Resize button. |

I was cruisin in the cage with the Better Half and the Dog last year, somewhere in the western Catskills. We came across a road rally way back in the boonies, it was all old classic bikes. Mostly old Hondas. After that I really wanted an old classic and the search began. So I started reading up and found this Great site. Early December 08 I found this Old Girl on Craigslist. The PO wanted a Grand, but came down a bit on the phone.[/img]
Im trying to get this picture thing down so Bear wit.....
The Po told me the Bike had "issues". Fouling plugs, hard starting and stuff I have been reading about on here. The Bike had been his son-inlaws and had sat up a few years, under a cover in his heated workshop. He said he had cleaned the carb, new jets, neadle and seats , acel pump , gaskets, plugs, even a new coil, still no Joy.[img]
The Bike looked real clean, along with all the other equipment in his meticulisly clean shop. So I hemmed and hawwed with my silent inspection. Offered $600 (US) and he took it.[/img] |

We loaded Her up on the trailer and hit the road. The PO was about 20 miles away , down in the Valley. Im up the Mountain. The Bike tryed to start in the Shed, but just popped a bit. The Po had been chasin it for a while for his son-inlaw and I guess just got tired and gave up.
I wish I put a cover on. She got covered in frozen road slop. When I got Her home it took a while to get all the crap off. Many buckets of hot water.

The Po had put a new battery in, after I cleaned Her up a Bit I tried to start it. It would rumble a little and stall. It was tough getting unloaded in the snow, the brakes were draggin so it was a bear.
I put her in the apartment downstairs with some of the other Biaches...
I started really cleanin and shinnin and It looked pretty good...
The Bike has no dings or scraches, just some little age spots.
After cleanin for like 3 Days and Nights , I started to cut the foreplay and get into it a little deeper. Took the seat and tank off, cleaned every connector and electrical plug I could find. The tank was clean inside and the little screen in the petcock looked like new. The plugs were fouled up, black, and the plug wire were original, cracked with some broken caps.
The PO had a pile of reciepts from different bike shops that hosed him pretty hard. One was for $124.00 for a new coil, just for the part.
