Hello all. I made my first post in the K help section, but I thought I would introduce myself.

I'm Calvin. I'm 23 years old and work as a 3d artist for Pi Studios (video game company). Before I started up here, I was a contractor for Schlumberger Oil Services. I got out of the automotive industry at the beginning of the year after being worked over as a Service Manager for NTB, Xpress Lube, and Sticker stop. I have engineering experience in many fields and have always had a lover for anything with a motor or anything that can be modified.

I've been working on cars since I could afford my own and take pride in learning the ins and outs of everything I own. I've built several eye catching cars from overlooked japanese commuters and drive my 91' miata (modified out the ass) daily.

My bike is my new project that I would like to get up to being able to ride daily. I previously owned a 96' Suzuki Bandit 600s which I had bought when I was fifteen. I have been without a bike for about 5-6 years now. My girlfriend bought a 87' Rebel 450 Rat Rod that is just an awesome little bike. Naturally I wanted something to ride with her. Enter my CB.

I know I'm of a younger generation and the older crowd tend to frown on that, but my passion for things I love borderlines obsession and I thirst for knowledge.

I hope to absorb as much from the people on the board as possible.

So... Hello everybody. That's me in a nut shell.

Welcome to DOHC Customs.
Your age has nothing to do with a love of the motorcycle or the quest for knowledge about that motorcycle.
Just listen carefully to what is said by those of us who know what we are talking about, and your bike will be running top knotch before you know it.

Welcome,

Don't let the wise (old) guys fool you, they like the young blood coming to the forum, they just fear that in our youth (inexperience) we may permanently damage ourselves or our bikes. You can't really blame them since most of the youth of America is flying around on various types of sport bikes wearing shorts and flip flops.

I fully agree about most people my age. I tend to hang with an older crowd naturally. My brother is 24 and he acts his age. He has a 350Z and a SV650, and has wrecked both several times cause he drives like a jackass. Secretly I think he wants to impress me but I just think he is a retard.

I am a sponge so feel free to poor as much knowledge on me as possible. I want my bike up an running in top shape.

What part of the big city do you live in?

There are several members on this forum that do not post much scattered around town.

I live in the Galleria area and work in Greenway Plaza. I didn't think there would be any members around the area. Most I figure would be out towards Kingwood or Pasadena. Not many vintage bike enthusiast in my area judging from the bikes I see, new sports bikes and high dollar Harleys.

Bruce Coffman has an "F" model and lives on the south side of 59 from Greenway. He is on the Yahoo board which I have not visited in quite a while. We were never able to meet up due to his part of town.

My girlfriends bike is a hard tail. It's also only about 300 lbs.
