Hi all,
 
 
I am from Tampa FL, but currently live in Eastman GA. Finding a Honda mechanic has been extremely hard for me though I did find a good custom shop (Ground up Customs) in St. Petersburg, FL; I try to do what I can on my bike myself. I have purchased the Mikuni RS34 carbs after having a bad Honda mechanic destroy the stock Kehein carbs I had. I have had the bike for close to 3 years now, I've installed and jetted the Mikuni's myself with lots of trial and error, YouTube, and parts purchased from Dime City Cycles in Tampa (love those guys, always helpful). I'm still getting them dialed in, they were lean but now seem to be close to snappy and fast. I've done other stuff myself on the bike, installed a jeep headlight, painted and wrapped my exhaust, changed the oil/spark plugs, new LED turn signals and rear light, and Ground Up Customs converted my drum brake into a disk brake by putting on a 1981 CB900 rear wheel and fabricating a bracket for the brake caliper. I'm very proud of my bike and I'm extremely nervous to take many of the things the Clymer manual says, such as valve adjustments, tappets, shims, timing, clutch etc. I would love to know how to do these things and really would love to take the whole engine apart, clean it, and put it back together with performance parts so we to help extend the life of her. Her name is Kitsune, named after the mischievous foxes of Japanese lore. I believe she will treat me well if I treat her well, and I'm here to learn. So, I don't know if this has been done, or is allowed, but I have been using the search function a ton and have found SO MUCH good information that I am starting to lose track of it. I've tried to keep notes but sometime I deep dive into topics and go down a rabbit hole, then go to work or something pulls me away and I don't get a chance to write down some things I've learned. I also have many posts bookmarked that I go through on my phone to try to find a piece of info I learned.
 
 
I wanted to know if it would be alright if I created my own thread, say either in Tips and Tricks or somewhere else you guys approve of where I can post all of the posts I find, categorized and labeled with a brief description for quick access. 
 
 
For example:
 
 
Ignition/charging: 
 
 
1. Recommend coils: Dyna Green DC1-1 
 
     (Link to post (s) entered here)
 
      Description: Improves starting/ignition system moving the coil strength up to 3ohms
 
 
2. Coil Relay trick: 
 
     (Link to post) 
 
      Description: Allows more electricity to move to the coils, which gives stronger start up, and better spark at higher revs)

I'd write at the top that it is not a place for people to comment, "Thank you" our put questions, it's just a resource of all of the best information I found on this forum. I don't want it to get bogged down with questions/comments unless for corrections/updates but even then I would trust a PM to update so the thread isn't cluttered.

IME, getting other members to not pollute your thread is not likely. Keeping it organized and easy to find stuff could turn into a thing with an open thread where you use subsequent posts to add stuff. Other's posts will undoubtedly come in and get in the way and pollute it.
 
 
Instead, you might make a thread and use only your initial post for your info, that you then edit over and over to add and remove stuff. Then whatever anyone does in posts after your post won't kludge up your organization. 
 
 
Put it in the Helpful Links section, that's basically what it's for.
 
 
 
 
 I just use bookmarks in my browser. I use Chrome, and can access my bookmarks from any of my devices. The trick is to keep them organized so you can find them later. But if making a post with descriptions works better for you, sure, why not? And maybe others will find it to be useful too. |
