Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently got the '82 900c I picked up early last year running the way I want to. Replaced the whole charging system because everyone I paid to fix it couldn't pinpoint the issue, then spent a day tracking down a short I created when I ran the cable for the brushes on the stator the wrong way. Thanks to the information on here wasn't terribly difficult. Had to replace the starter solenoid after the fuse blew. Got new valve shims which brought all the cyl in spec. Still have a few issues to fix including:

-the front fork still leaking after getting new seals

-smoke coming from a leaky valve in cyl 1

-new tires are needed soon

-looking to put some LED replacement bulbs for the rear brake and headlight

-on the hunt for a stock airbox

Gonna get started on the fork tomorrow, hopefully without issue. Also considering checking the tension on the cam chain.

Really appreciate all the info y'all have gathered here, makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one who had issues. |

Welcome from the shadows. There are three leak sources for the forks:

- fork seal

- o-ring at the fork cap

- air hose and fittings

Let me know if you need a replacement air hose. I just removed that system from my forks and I dont suspect Ill ever reuse it. |
