Hello all, Thanks a bunch for the add to the group. I just picked up a 1983 Honda CB1100F Super Sport. It needed the tank cleaned - very rusty, the carbs cleaned and rebuilt (still working on that), a new starter relay, new battery, petcock cleaned and a new in tank filter. Gonna need to drain the brake fluid, check the pad wear and re-bleed the system. I shot some starting fluid in the intakes and cranked it over a few turns and it fired up, whoohooo! Only ran for a few seconds but I bought the bike without being able to start it so hearing it Roar for a couple of seconds is awesome. I have attached a couple of pics of the "unloading" at the house. I really like the look of these early Honda 4 cylinder beast's.

Hello pd750, well this is the fist time for me getting into a 4 pack of carbs. I found Sean's 42 page instructions on how to do it - I like his detailed write up, I have it bookmarked I found this bike here locally on craigslist and went to take a look at it in person. I couldn't believe that everything was there plus is had a good title as well. So I didn't even talk the guy down from his price of $500. I gave him the money and within about 20 min's I was home taking the pictures of the bike - the pics above. I found that De-rusting the inside of the tank was made super easy by using "Metal Rescue". Man that stuff works good. It looks like brand new metal inside now - I was a little skeptical but have become a believer in the stuff now. I'll see if I can start a resurrection thread under the appropriate area in the forum.

Hi, welcome here.
Sorry to say, the bike in those pictures looks like a CB900F not a CB1100F. None of the 1100f parts are there. Wrong wheels, brake rotors, rearsets (hold the footpegs), exhaust pipes, forks, gauges, headlight, everything about that bike I can see looking at those small pictures says 900F, not 1100F. Even the body work graphics and color are a 900 design. |

Even as a 900 , I think 500 bucks was a decent deal . |

Thanks for the Welcome guys. I am freshly new to the Honda game, mostly been with 2 stroke Yamaha street bikes. I stand corrected, I agree, seems like a CB900F. Thanks for taking a pic of the goose neck VIN/Year plate. I hadn't noticed that the model was printed on the plate as well. I'll check it tonight for sure. It is definitely printed a 1983. I'll see if I can get a picture of that plate/sticker.
Yea, I know Ether is not your friend for an engine. Without a fuel source, and the over exuberant curiosity if it would run I did it. Just a couple of seconds to hear it fire over. I know that it will run when the carbs are good to go. No more Ether on it. no, no, no. ha ha |

I went and looked at the VIN sticker and it looks exactly like your. 1983 and says 1100f, so maybe they did rebuild a 900 in an 1100 frame. That can't be too bad. Better frame (stronger maybe)?? |

I'll be darned. That's pretty incredible. Maybe it was 2 bikes got stuff swapped, one ran and looked good, but got bent, the other wore out. Who knows. It would cost a fortune to turn it back into a real 1100 though.
I don't know if the frame is any better really, maybe the swingarm is, but racers don't keep the 1100 swingarms either.
You can click on the pic of the 1100 in my sig and see what the wheels, forks, brakes, headlight and stuff should look like for a stock 1100. I don't have the right dir signal fixtures though, pipes, seat and other things. I do have lattice rearsets, but they are European, not US plates. The stock 1100 pipes look about like yours but they are black chrome. They were also a bit fragile, the black finish was easy to ruin.
That 1100 in my sig is a fast one though. It ran great. |

I'll take some pics as it sits now. Seat is off of it now. I'll take a pic of the VIN Sticker as well. You guys are right, the wheels are a 900f set along with the plastics and the gauges. Everything works like it should. |

It's pretty typical for old machines to be rebuilt with whatever someone has lots of parts for
