New member from Billings, Montana

Hello, I am Tal

I found this great site throough cb1100f.
I have a 1979 CB750F I have recently purchased and am loving,
as any bike her age she has a few issues, but overall she really kicks ass!
I have been riding dirt since a kid but this is my first ever streetbike; also the displacement of this bike is equal to the total of my last 5 bikes so the size\lack of being able to literally muscle it around has taken a little getting used to.
I am ashamed to admit that at 5'9 165 I am sadly unable to get this bike on the two point yet Sad

I just snapped a few pictures with the blackberry after I pulled the fairing I will try to set-up the BB to export my pictures so I can post them here hopefully, later today.
Anyways thought since I am now lurking around here I should introduce myself.
hopefully pictures to follow later today, for now I'm off to my local MC salvage to see what kinda goodies I can find.

Be cool on the street. It is much different than the dirt. Trees don't move. Cagers do! Shocked

Also, be verrry verrry careful of crap on the road that can make you lose traction, especially wet asphalt! Once these babies start kicking out from under you, it is hard to recover. Wink

You mentioned the 2-point. I'm guessing you mean the centerstand. Piece of cake - just a trick you need to learn: Stand the bike up straight from the left side holding on to the left grip with your left hand and the left passenger grab bar with your right hand. Now push the centerstand down with your right foot and rock the bike side to side a bit until you feel both points making contact with the floor. Now comes the trick. Don't try to LIFT the bike up onto the centerstand (you can't). Instead, try to push the centerstand into the floor while simultaneously pulling back (and a bit up) on the left grip and left grab bar. You may have to put all your weight onto the centerstand foot bar. She should stand right up if you do it right.

Took me a half dozen times before I got it right. Ideally, have someone standing on the other side of the bike to steady it as you do this - you don't want to drop the bike over on the right side! Shocked

Looks good. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to pop it up on the centerstand without a problem.

After loading and unloading a dressed Goldwing with a dragging caliper, my little CB750 felt like a toy.

Yep...and one really pulls back with the left hand as least as much if not more that lifting with the right hand......

Thanks for the tips guy's I'll try them out tomorrow.
I notice I have a little checking in between the treads of my rear tire, It has an 130\90\18 on there but I have been having a rough time sourcing the same tire (locally,I have no cc's so no web tire buying for me.)can any of the experts here tell me what sizes I CAN acceptably run?
should I start a new thread,? it just seems some knowledgeble people are already posting in this thread and figgured may as well try..

i see you still have the king/queen seat. i have an extra stock seat i can make you a deal on. and that fairing really had to go. you might look into getting a windshield or maybe a quarter fairng. you can sometimes find them for sale cheap on EBAY.
