new cb900c owner

just wanted to introduce my self. name is Tony. Just got a 81 cb900c from a friend at work. Will be picking it up on Tuesday. It belonged to his dad but has been setting in his garage for the last 10 years untouched. The bike has 20k miles on it and everything is there but needs some work. Im new to this type of bike so I will definitely be seeking the knowledge of everyone here. By the way got the bike for free. Friend just wants some one to do something with it and not just let it sit around like he has due to him having like 10 other projects going on. So Im looking forward to getting started on the project. Will post picks when I pick it up.

Can't beat that price, but it will likely end up costing some money to get it going, no doubt.

thanks for the welcomes. im sure that it will cost some to get it going hopeing to get it up and going for around 1k but if it takes more oh well. I am pretty capable of doing most of the work been turning wrenches for as long as I can remember, have a pretty good grasp on electrical since its part of my job for the navy, did autobody before I joined so painting it is covered. and pretty good at flowing instructions and guidance so I hope to get that help here.

If nothing major is missing, you could do an easy resto for less then a 1K
tires,brakes,carbs cleaned.My friend got the same bike from his neighbor
he changed all the above plus the gas tank,tail seat combo,fender for less then 1K.He turned the Custom in to an F bike.I have a pic but not sure how to post it here.

Could you add your bike to your signature. It is explained in the New Members Thread on the home page. It is easy to do and lets the cats here know what kind of bike you are referring too among other things. It helps believe it or not Smile

the bike is all there just has been sitting for over 10 years so im sure gaskets and fluids are going to be pretty nasty. just not sure how I want to do the rebuild if I want to go stock, café, or bobber have seen examples of all 3 that I like. so only time will tell. I know one thing the engine will remain stock as far as setup goes.
