Hey everybody, just wanted to stop in and say hello. I very recently purchased a 1981 CB750 Custom (cheap too, $1300). She seems to be in great shape, only 11k miles and I'm really excited to get started as this is my first motorcycle. Being my first motorcycle, I'm sure there is a lot I don't know and I figured there isn't a much better source of know-how than a forum full of people that own the same (or close to) model of bike.
Hope I can talk more with you guys soon!
Missing a side cover! Doh! ^^^^

You have a nice looking bike there.
Since it is your first bike you might want to check out Sean's new to you checklist.
The link is in my sig.
Cheers |

Also since this is your first bike, you should check into taking a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class. You will be surprised how much you can learn. Welcome! |

Thanks! To be honest I was cruising the forums for several days before signing up and came across the pdf of the manual already and had it bookmarked, but I think I'm going to go ahead and print and throw it in a binder like suggested.

I have already contacted our local MSF and I will hopefully be jumping into one of their first courses this spring. Thanks for the tip though!
I'm trying to be on the ball with most of this preparation stuff. I have several friends that have been riding bikes for years and their lording over me has become too much to bear They will hopefully keep me grounded and on task with most of the start-up stuff. |

Putting the FSM in a binder is the way to go. I used the plastic page/sheet protectors as well. Every now and then some oil finds it way on to the pages and the protectors help in that regard. |

Yeeeeeah. Didn't take me too long to figure that out. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes open and put it out to the good people of the forum to help me locate one.

HA! I did not know that. And after a quick google search I've realized it's literally one of my favorite things.
Guess I should have switched the two words in my username around, eh? |

Welcome to here. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Just have to get rid of all the snow up there! |

Well, I had to look it up (Hogan). Now I know.

I will leave it at that, maybe. |
