This is me...
This is/was my first project bike; 1979 GS850G
Before:
And as it sits. I like to call this the "bomber" phase. I wanted to ride it, didn't want to strip it and do a full paint job on it, but had to do something for the interim.
This is the CM185T that I scored for $50 on Craigslist. Little HCL in the tank, cleaned the carb, charged the battery, and she was a runner. 28XX miles, everything works, really fun little bike, and great for her to learn on. After a few new bulbs, new plugs, cleaning the tank, and an oil change... $80 total... maybe less
Which I traded for this 1980 CB750F: For those of you math majors, that means I'm getting a nearly running, clean titled, complete 750F for $80 (Being how much I have into the CM)
Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I also picked up a "parts" bike; 1981 CB750C (which is why I'm on this forum)
And believe it or not, the girlfriend is real! This was our first ride on the classics.
And her being done with the CM and riding the 850.
We have one of these things too, getting an early start on him. ATGATT at 2 years old.
So there's my brief picture autobiography.
I think that it's lame to come on a forum just to try and sling parts without at least a proper introduction. Being that I've already found a source on carb o rings on here, I gotta say I may be on here more than the "f" forums/ |

Thanks for the welcome! Think I got the signature sorted out. The YM1 in said signature is a part out as well if anyone happens to be into the old yamaha 2 smokes. I didn't have the heart to let it hit the scrapyard since these things are as rare as honest politicians.
I'm going to have a very depressing picture of what came out of the engine of my F tonight. It started as oil I think, no clue what it is now... |
