Thank goodness for forums like these.
Let in introduce myself I used to ride a 81 cb650 but had to sell when moving 5 years ago.Well today the planets aligned and a friend of a friend gave me a bike that has been in his barn for years and years. The good it is a cb900c.The bad EVERYTHING ELSE.This is a wreck not sure if I will even get it running but going to give it a shot. The search function on this forum has already proved great.
Thats my quick vague intro
Anyway thanks for the great place to find info on this heap.
I am sure I will be spending lots of time around here.

Welcome to the forum!
It's a machine. It can be fixed. It's just a matter of time and persistence.
Would you do me a favor? Take a side shot of your saddlebags. I need to see how your bags sit in relation to your exhaust, and how the saddlebag mounts are attached to your frame. (I just bought a full set of Vetter luggage like yours, but I need to find a way to make it clear the stock exhaust.) If you'd be willing to do that, I'd be grateful. |

Gotcha. The problem I'm having is that I need to raise the entire mount about 2 inches to clear the exhaust. I'm wondering if there's something different about your saddlebags, or if the prior owner fabricated some sort of adapter to raise the mounts. |

yhea they are the same size as seat bolts just way longer.Buddy I messed with it and think I have it figured out I am going to make a trip to the hardware store in the morning to get what I need to make them mount even and spaced level and away from the exhaust.I will post some pics when I get one side together proper.
I am really feeling sorry for this bike it looks like it has had it rough. |
