Thank goodness for forums like these.

Let in introduce myself I used to ride a 81 cb650 but had to sell when moving 5 years ago.Well today the planets aligned and a friend of a friend gave me a bike that has been in his barn for years and years. The good it is a cb900c.The bad EVERYTHING ELSE.This is a wreck not sure if I will even get it running but going to give it a shot. The search function on this forum has already proved great.

Thats my quick vague intro
Anyway thanks for the great place to find info on this heap.

I am sure I will be spending lots of time around here.

Welcome to the forum!

It's a machine. It can be fixed. It's just a matter of time and persistence.

Would you do me a favor? Take a side shot of your saddlebags. I need to see how your bags sit in relation to your exhaust, and how the saddlebag mounts are attached to your frame. (I just bought a full set of Vetter luggage like yours, but I need to find a way to make it clear the stock exhaust.) If you'd be willing to do that, I'd be grateful.

Gotcha. The problem I'm having is that I need to raise the entire mount about 2 inches to clear the exhaust. I'm wondering if there's something different about your saddlebags, or if the prior owner fabricated some sort of adapter to raise the mounts.

yhea they are the same size as seat bolts just way longer.Buddy I messed with it and think I have it figured out I am going to make a trip to the hardware store in the morning to get what I need to make them mount even and spaced level and away from the exhaust.I will post some pics when I get one side together proper.

I am really feeling sorry for this bike it looks like it has had it rough.

Like yours, my 750 was stashed in a barn for 5 years or so, rusty, flat tires and stinky gas in the tank looked pretty bad. A couple months of tinkering, with help from this group, I'm on the road. Most of the rust came off with steel wool. Under the grime, the bike is pretty sound. I have a charging problem now, but, I have my manuals and support here; No worries! Good luck with yours, that looks like a great bike.
