Newbie to say "Hi"

Hello to all.

This is my first posting of which, I hope, will be many.

I aquired my bike one year ago. It is a 1982 Nighthawk 750 SC, with approx. 45,000KM. I had some initial problems with the electrics and carburation, but have since sorted them out.

Went out for my first ride of the '10 season, riding about 35Km to work. I know, just a short ride, however, I was pleased everything went well.

I will post some pictures, as soon as I can get them taken.

My avatar is of my former bike I had for 10 years. A 1993 Yamaha FJ1200. Never have I owned anything that gave me such pure joy when riding.

I am hoping to get some of that pleasure back, as my Nighthawk & I become better aquainted.

Seems a strange direction to move in. Did you get tired of the larger displacement?

Actually, old dirt, I found I wasn't riding it. Living in a major metropolitan city, with a 625lb. bike is not pleasurable.

I bought a 1984 Magna V30 500cc V4m, but it was too small to haul my 230lb frame around.

After just one year, I sold it and then found my '82 Nighthawk 750 SC. I'm liking it more and more, as I get to riding it.

However, I do miss the displacement!!

I was guessing it might have something to do with the vehicle weight.
The Nighthawk should certainly be easier to handle than the FJ in traffic.

Most definitely!! The FJ can handle like a dream, once you are under way, but slow speed maneuvers could get exciting, to say the least!!

The Nighhawk is much more stable crawling around.

I really am enjoying learning about it.

After almost 40yrs of riding, I can honestly say I'll never do that! Ha, ha!!

Hi, holysmokes;

I just read your answer to the member wanting to add Nighthawk parts to his "F" model.

It was meantioned in another posting you have both models.

I was wondering if you might have a stock 82 - 83 SC exhaust? I'm attempting to return mine back to original. It presently has a MAC 2 into 2, which is in very good shape, considering its age, but it;s not stock.

Any help you can offer in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

He was referring to Frank's standards...
And Frank was referring to the fact that others (me, for one) do all our mechanical work in the living room...

I'm a total car guy, who now lives in a small condo. Here, I can't even wash my van!!

When I lived in my house, my wife would have slit my throat in the night, if I ever did that.

I'd say you guys are extremely fortunate to be able to put your bikes in the house!!
