Glad to have found a group with such activity! I've read through most the new member material but will be reviewing it again as well as read through a lot of other post for noobs like the new to me check list.

My dad bought this bike in 81 with 500 miles on it then gave it to me in 98 as a high school graduation gift and we have shared it since.

It's had minimal maintenance done to it most of it's life and stored more than it should. I had the carbs cleaned and tuned last year and been riding it every chance I get since. Planning to start doing a lot more maintenance as several things are coming due, I've wrenched plenty on cars in the past but have not touched the bike any more than necessary yet.

I'm looking forward to sharing my project with everyone as I tackle new problems.

Welcome to here wave

Good work on checking out the materials. get familiar with the shop manual. It takes a few times going through it to really remember where stuff is. Be sure to go through the Addendums that apply up to your year. If something is in the 80 750C addendum, they don't put it in the 81 750C addendum too. It does make sense, but it takes some looking and getting used to it.

Our wiring diagrams look good too for scans, they're actually readable, and the real ones are accurate.

Thanks for the welcomes. I've downloaded the service manual and look forward to having it printed and available in the garage for greasy finger referencing.

After looking over the "new to me" check list I see I have my work cut out for me as I know nothing has really been checked or monitored. But as of last spring when I had the carbs done by a local shop I asked them to give it a look over and make sure it is road safe. They gave me a laundry list of stuff that should be done soon and gave me the thumbs up to ride it home after I choked on the bill.

After I read some more of the intro info I'll start inspecting things I'm sure I'll be asking questions as I plan to do as much of the work myself.
