Jeebers, I sure feel like an ass.

Anyhow Mr. Chop, how fast do you want that nice chopper to go? How much money do you want to spend?

It's really pretty much about the money making these things go fast.

The single most important thing you can do to speed it up is different carbs. Powerroy here can get you some new Keihin smoothbores for something like $700.

But, before you make a decision on carbs, you need to decide if you are going to make the motor bigger. Making a 750 motor signifigantly larger requires changing everything from the crank up and the primary shaft. That's the crank, primary shaft and chain, cylinders, rods, pistons, cam chains and tensioners, head, cams and carbs and cylinder head studs (900/1100 studs are longer, a 900 is just a factory bored and stroked 750). You'll also want a 900 oil pump and oil path plate, oil pan, and a big assed oil cooler It also means a newer and more powerful ignition. You can go up to 1123ccs pretty easilly, just by parts swapping and a little machining, but it does require all that stuff. And it's not cheap.

There are a few pitfalls that we can help you avoid, and you probably won't be able to just go find all that stuff under a rock. The parts to get are a 900 crank and primary shaft, then build the 1123 motor on top of that out of cb1100f parts. Hell, while you're at it, you might as well get a 900 tranny in it too, the ratios will be better for a big engine.

Welcome to the Site Mr Chop, you certainly had an interesting entrance.
I welcome you and your nighthawk but I'm one who is NOT a fan of choppers. No one gets banned but we also do not have a "chopper" section either. Just friendly advice, it's probably best to not focus on that aspect as I have for years on the F-sight when refering to my 750. Wink

That said I have the same (though older) engine in my 750c and look forward to hearing more from you.

True on both counts, but guys, we do have the Nighthawk section, and after some silliness on my part, I don't really care if a chopper guy wants to hang with us. Hell, he could teach us something.

I dont dicriminate though, ive owned every jap brand of bike sans yamaha and i love em all. cept that p.o.s. kaw kz440 i had for a first bike. so i hope to make a friend or two and if you dont like that ive chopped it, talk about it from the seat foward then.

Hmm ,

lift ... about a pound or two more on the 900s as they have more metal .

duration ... well , at least another 50,000 miles on them 900s as they gots lots farther to wear to get to the same point as the current 750s ...

Wink

its been listed on site a couple dozen times already, you will find that 900 cams will definitely be a great improvement

like adding cams to a small block chevy
