well, well, well.....guess who just got a new bike? THIS GUY Smile

after about 6 years of not having a motorcycle of any kind, Friday night i checked out and bought another CB.....not just any CB....NOOO...this is probably the epitome of CB Custom nirvana, an 83 CB1000.

i get to be one of the guys, again!! YE HAA.

i saw this bike on Craigslist Thursday, and i just knew i had to have it. it needs some attention, and a little love, but it runs fine, and doesn't seem to need much to get it back into prime shape. Razz

but what's really nice for all you old timers on here is you get to experience my sense of humor again. LUCKY YOU!

i have to find a host. photobucket wants money, now, to host images. i still got a buttload of pictures on there, but i ain't putting any new ones on. what do you guys use?

the 1000 is your standard brown/bronze Custom. nothing too exciting to look at, just yet. i still have some old bike parts down in our barn. i am going to have to go through that and see if i can find anything i can use on this. i want to go to sport bike bars like i had on my 900, and definitely some mirrors, since this bike didn't come with any [!?]

the bike only has 20K on the odometer. i am going to assume that is fairly correct, since what i was told was that the bike had belonged to an older guy who took pretty good care of it.

the person i actually bought the bike from is Brenda, from Bike Boneyard, which coincidentally is just down the road from me. unfortunately, she doesn't have any CB1000 parts, but i would guess she wouldn't sell a bike that has a lot of problems...she would have just parted it out.

I was presuming his thread title was a lyric to a Van Halen song. My post is the next line. Very Happy

Ahh ... I thought it might be referencing something illegal , like no mirrors .

Obviously , I'm not a Van Halen fan .

A/pre suming = guessing . Sometimes right , sometimes not . Wink

Gimme something to write on, man

Image

Oh wow, man
Wait a second man Whaddaya think the teacher's gonna look like this year? (my butt, man)
Oh yeah T-T-Teacher stop that screaming, teacher don't you see?
Don't want to be no uptown fool
Maybe I should go to hell, but I'm doin' well,
Teacher needs to see me after school

I think of all the education that I missed
But then my homework was never quite like this
Ow got it bad, got it bad, got it bad,
I'm hot for teacher
I got it bad, so bad,
I'm hot for teacher

Hey, I heard you missed us, we're back
I brought my pencil
Gimme something to write on, man
Uh uh, I heard about your lessons, but lessons are so cold
I know about this school
Little girl from Cherry Lane, how did you get so bold?
How did you know that golden rule?

I think of all the education that I missed
But then my homework was never quite like this
Ow got it bad, got it bad, got it bad,
I'm hot for teacher
I got it bad, so bad,
I'm hot for teacher, whoa

Oh man, I think the clock is slow
I don't feel tardy
Class dismissed

Oh, yeah
I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad
I'm hot for teacher

Whoa
Oh, yes I'm hot
Who
Oh my God

One of my life goals is to learn the guitar intro to that song. It's actually not too bad in the beginning although it's kind of hard to get all the hammer ons and pull offs to sound clearly. It's the haphazard run down the scales at the end of it that kills me.

I read an interview with Eddy where he describes his guitar playing as "falling down the stairs and landing on your feet"[paraphrased]. That's the perfect description for that last run in the intro. Smile

yep....LOL. i like to use that line as much as a threat as a promise. hahaha. there is a line i will use from time to time from a Hot Tuna song that goes "come back baby, i WISH you would" that has a real menacing tone to it, too. especially the way Jorma sings it. probably doesn't translate well typed out, but i can hear it in my head. hahaha. Laughing

Hot For Teacher was the best track on the whole 1984 album.
Cocaine and alcohol fucked that band up big time and then age hit David Lee Roth like a freight train, he's just an old Jew now too stereotypical.
Eddie got kicked out of his own band for being too difficult to deal with.
Cancer from cigarettes that looked too cool hanging off the end if the guitar is why Eddie got so crazy.
