Just thought I would drop by and say hello.

Recently picked up an 1981 CB750 K which I intend to café race style it, shame really as it was in such good condition when I picked it up. The bike is an import and originally came from Kansas I believe.

No doubt as the project develops I will be looking to some of you guys to help with advice and guidance which in turn in the future I can hopefully pass onto someone one.

I have already decided that the pods I picked up for it will be a bad idea after reading some posts, so will go back to the original air box, despite I like the "hole" through the bike, lol.

Do you have to make so many posts before you can post up a picture, I have one I have changed to 640 x 480 as the forum requests me to do so, but cant find where to upload it? Its not online so I cant link to it.

OK, you lost me on that one?? Confused

The bike originally came from EL Dorado, Kansas US, but now resides in Cambridge, UK. It was imported here in 2013 as far as I understand it. I will check when I get home, but I think that's where it came from.

The dealers have the parts diagrams on their websites. Try the Service Honda link in my sig, it will get you started. Partzilla is a good one too.

Good call Smile I used the one in your signature, I knew I had seen it somewhere before. That's got new air box to carb rubbers ordered as they were perished.

As and when I get the chance I will put a thread up about the bike if that's ok. Like I said, it was a lovely looking standard bike with a known charging issue, and a not so known bad running issue. All the chrome is in really good condition, shame I am stripping most of it off and throwing it on the back of my shed Embarassed Afraid its going to be a very long haul on this one as funds are tight and I am in no rush, and generally have very little time too, but I will get there.

It looks like I "may" have sorted the charging issue out, just waiting on the parts to turn up (ordered today) and then to be fitted and tested. After going through the charging system check list on here, it "looks" to me like its a failed rotor issue, despite me already having replaced the rectifier / regulator and the stator Embarassed I guess finding it late was better than not finding it at all.

Where I really went wrong, when it said to check the rotor from the 2 brass rings, I thought I would be clever and check it from the wires coming out of the stator wires, not thinking this would change the reading, so I ended up with an almost correct reading this way, and thought well is cant be that, last night I look the cover off and checked it, and it was reading just under 1 ohm, no matter how much I cleaned it and pressed the probes of the multi meter in Embarassed

We live and learn Very Happy

Indeed, I read that from one of your links in your signature, wish I had found this site prior to buying the rectifier / regulator and stator Evil or Very Mad But as I said, we live and learn. Laughing At least now I guess it has a brand new charging system throughout, well except the brushes which seem to have lots of life left in them yet Very Happy

Surprisingly, I ordered from these earlier today, it was the only place I could get the airbox to carb rubbers from, another good call and thank you Smile
