not really a request of help, more of an fyi. I just clicked on a back link from a thread back to the technical support forum and received an error

MySQL is Reporting

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mysql' (35)

it hasnt happened again, so i can't give you steps to reproduce at this point. and that connection error is pretty vague

It's the server losing it's internal path. It happens for various reasons, and usually corrects itself. It can be one of the server's pieces rebooting for instance, but once it's back online everything works again. Confused

sounds like what my gut was telling me, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

FWIW I run a forum on a couple of servers at my house (homebrewforums.net) so I'm familiar with some of the challenges associated with keeping things running. I'm not sure what kind of an architecture you're sitting on, but I switched to all static IPs on the back-end because i had a similar problem of things not talking for a minute or two thanks to a local routing issue. It was annoying and hard to track down, but in the end simple static address assignments at the router (not on the boxes themselves, they still think they are dynamically assigned) fixed a lot of web front end to mysql backend snafus for me.
