I've found myself saying the exact same thing after about $600 dollars in shop repairs that have yielded little or no significant improvements on my bike. I'd rather have the satisfaction of knowing everything about my motor so I can be the one to fix it next time.
That being said, I will probably not even be able to ride my bike much this summer as I will not be able to begin dismantling it until the middle of June. And how much I can do at the time is going to depend on cash flow. |

Just pull the engine from the frame like you are supposed to and do the job the correct way. |

the engine , will lift out easy
this will also allow you to pull the oil pan and do things right and not hap hazardly
