Well, after a couple of outages, we're back. The site has been a bit dodgy lately, we'e sorry about that. I have also been too busy to look in much myself... I had some jobs that just didn't allow me any time to surf...

Big thanks go to Glenn Dalton for the kind help with getting us back online and keeping us alive! Hopefully the site will stay in one piece for a while now. It just likes to get corrupted sometimes...

And don't forget to make an occasional donation via the link on the front page to help cover the costs for keeping the site running.

Thanks all! Very Happy

This morning Glenn made a change to the server setup that may have considerable impact on performance, we'll see. So far it seems to be considerably quicker to respond to me. Anyone else think so too?

Jeeberz!

Messages now go right in and the forum appends the thread and returns the update for me here. This is the quickest I've ever seen it go. Let's hope it continues.

Agreed Gene. After not being able to get to the forums today it is light speed compared to before.

I just pinged the site . Got an average of about 140ms over 21 hops . That's pretty slow , but considering that I'm sitting in the middle of nowhere and the # of hops , it's also pretty darn good enough .

Nothing anybody can do to change the ping time, that's dependent on the network.

I've always thought it was the server that was hanging up...

Well let's hope it holds up. Smile

I didn't get an email notification though.

Besides, it has nothing to do with it. Fuck, it's quick. I'm impressed. Razz

Turns out the disk based sessions tables were causing the issues all along. Now they are in ram instead. Wink

seriously, if there were no email notifications I think it would drive me bat-shit insane. I can just imagine what I'd be like after manually refreshing the page I was interested in waiting for a reply to mine or somebody elses stuff. I'd probably chew my nails off, reminds me when I was a newbie to internet and forums and I didn't know about turning on email notification for a while. Mr. Green

I guess I really don't understand . Why would you want to first have to go to your email to check for any notifications , then to this site , then back to email to delete them . I use to have that 'feature' turned on , but not for long .
